Chemical Freezing Precautions

 

COLD WEATHER HANDLING LIQUID CHEMICAL PRODUCTS

The information contained herein is based on information which is believed reliable. However, due to changes that the manufacturer may make in the manufacturing or formulating process the minimum storage temperature may change. Consult the product label to be sure.

If any product is stored below the manufacturer's suggested minimum storage temperature, the most important criterion in determining if the product is useable is the complete absence of crystals. If crystals remain after all effort to redissolve, do not use the product.

MINIMUM STORAGE PRODUCT TEMPERATURE COMMENTS Banvel 4E 15 F Freezes at 15 F but completely redissolves above that temperature. No special handling is required. Basalin 40 F Do not allow to freeze. If freezing occurs and crystals are present, contact the manufacturer representative. Butoxone SB 32 F After product warms above 32 F, roll or shake the can to ensure product is thoroughly mixed. Basagran 40 F Place in warm room and shake can periodically. If crystals completely dissolve the product is useable. If crystals do not completely dissolve do not use product and contact the manufacturer representative. Baytex 32 F If stored below 32 F, do not use product. Contact manufacturer representative. Bexton 4L & 32 F If stored below 32 F, warm to Bexton/Agrazine above 50 F and agitate thoroughly before using. Bicep 4.5 L No Special Freezes with no damage to product. Handling Bladex 4L No Special Freezes with no damage to product. Handling Blazer 20 F Below 20 F, active ingredient will settle out. Warm to 70 F and agitate thoroughly. Product effectiveness is not affected. Bravo 500 32 F Do not let freeze. If stored below 32 F, product effectiveness may be reduced. Bronco 40 F After product warms above 40 F, roll or shake to ensure product is thoroughly mixed.

If freezing occurs contact manufacturer. Citcop 4E 32 F Has been stored at -20 C. Cittowett Plus 40 F Freezes at 40 F but completely redissolves above that temperature. No special handling necessary. If this occurs, call manufacturer representative. Nudrin 32 F If stored below 32 F contact manufacturer. Paraquat CL 32 F Do not let freeze. If frozen, poor weed control may occur. Contact manufacturer representative if product freezes. Parathion 8# 20 F If stored below 20 F, contact (FMC) manufacturer representative.

If crystals do not completely dissolve do not use product and call manufacturer representative. Treflan MTF No Special May be stored in unheated Handling facilities. Trithion 8E 0 F Liquid may separate at lower temperatures. Warm to a higher temperature and mix thoroughly to recombine liquid. This will assure uniformity of product.

With all chelates, avoid frezing if at all possible. Separation may be a particular problem with the 3% Calcium and the 2.5% Magnesium chelates.
